The end of shoe boxes?
The manufacture and production of cardboard boxes can negatively impact the environment.
The first way in which they are not environmentally friendly are the way in which cardboard is obtained, it all begins from trees needing to be cut down leading to massive deforestation.
The next reason is that a lot of water and air pollution can occur in the manufacturing process of cardboard.
Finally cardboard takes up a lot of space in landfill, and once it begins degrading it can contaminate the groundwater.
All of these reasons are leading to environmental groups wanting to replace cardboard shoe boxes with more environmentally friendly alternatives
